Throughout his years of practice, John has represented a wide range of transportation clients, from maritime to surface and air, before federal and state courts as well as in arbitration proceedings before the Society of Maritime Arbitrators, the American Arbitration Association and the Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services.

John regularly assists clients in matters relating to marine casualties, charter parties, maritime attachments, the drafting of bills of lading and service contracts, vessel financing and documentation, corporate mergers and acquisitions, public works projects, off shore mineral exploration and international joint ventures. Recognized as an authority in the area of transportation and trade law, John is currently updating Goods In Transit, a seven-volume treatise on the law of transportation, which encompasses marine, rail, truck and air transportation.
